Company announces strategic partners for the development program of the newest member of its aircraft family
PARIS June 20, 2019 – Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation has announced key partnerships with leading aerospace companies during the Paris Air Show. These partnerships reflect the ongoing development of the company’s global partner network as it expands its product portfolio.
Strong partnerships play a key role in making the newly announced Mitsubishi SpaceJet M100 a new standard in regional air travel. Partnerships announced this week include:
- Signed agreement with Triumph Group, Inc. for engineering services for the SpaceJet M100 program. Its Aerospace Structures business unit will provide support of aircraft design and development. The contract leverages Triumph’s core structural engineering resources to provide airframe design and analysis support for the aircraft’s development, in particular related to wing optimization and access to advanced material technology.
- Signed Memorandum of Understanding with Safran Cabin to provide full-scale integrated interiors including galleys, lavatories, overhead bins, passenger service units, sidewalls, ceiling panels, as well as other components that create the customer experience during flight operations. The SpaceJet M100 will incorporate the ingenious next generation Safran Cabin ECOS overhead pivot bins, providing greater and more efficient baggage management, and improved functionality from a new overhead bin latching concept.
- Signed an MOU with Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. for engineering services, building on the existing contract for pylons. Spirit brings unprecedented experience in aerostructure design and new aircraft development. In addition, Spirit is being considered for airframe structure work, extending their contract from the pylon manufacture for the SpaceJet M100.
“This week’s partnership agreements are a reflection of a growing recognition that there is real opportunity in the regional segment of the aviation market,” said Dave Barrow, Head of Global Strategy & Business Development. “Our partnerships are a critical aspect of our ability to deliver a game-changing product to market.”
The newly-announced SpaceJet M100 is perfectly matched to the United States and global markets alike. In the U.S. market, the aircraft is optimized to be scope clause compliant in the 65-76 seat, three-class cabin configuration. It can also be flexibly configured for other global market needs up to 88 seats single class, with industry leading operating economics throughout the full range of configurations.
